COVID-19 Return to Work Practices
The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly made 2020 difficult for all of us. Many businesses have been asked to shut down in order to stop the spread of the virus. Hard-working citizens and community members have been out of work and unable to have close interaction with friends and loved ones. Fortunately, though, Governor DeWine has made the announcement that we will be reopening Ohio’s economy in phases. With that, we are pleased to announce that Shiflett Family Dental will be open for business starting on May 4, 2020.
This opening does not mean business as usual, however. The entire team at Shiflett Family Dental has been working hard in their time off to help ensure a safe return. We have been following CDC, ADA, OSHA, and Ohio State Dental Board recommendations carefully and adjusted our protocols accordingly. Although we have always made infection control a top priority, we had added additional measures to keep our valued patients and staff safe.
Below you will find a list of several of the new procedures and safeguards we have implemented for our return. We will continue these as long as necessary to battle the coronavirus along with dental disease.
We will be contacting each patient prior to their appointment to complete a COVID-19 screening questionnaire (link). We will repeat these questions again when you arrive at our office.
A member of our staff will take your temperature with a touchless infrared thermometer when you arrive.
All staff will sign in each day and fill out a similar questionnaire along with having their temperature recorded.
When you arrive for your appointment, we ask that you remain in your vehicle and give us a call at (614)262-1807. We will then return your call as soon as your room is clean and ready, limiting your contact with others in common areas.
Alternatively, we have secured the use of an open room across the hall from our office where you can wait for your appointment while maintaining the recommended 6 feet of social distance.
Staff members will be wearing a mask or face covering during all encounters with patients, and we recommend that patients do the same (other than when they are actively receiving treatment, of course).
Plexiglass shields, or “sneeze guards” have been placed at the check-in and check-out areas for added staff and patient protection.
Hand sanitizer is available at the reception areas and multiple sinks are available in the back for hand washing. We ask that patients use the hand sanitizer upon entry and exit of the office.
Appointment times have increased and appointment frequency has decreased to allow for proper cleaning and distance between patients.
Staff is equipped with the best protective equipment available in accordance with CDC, ADA, OSHA, and OSDB recommendations. Each member is trained in strict infection control policies.
Although this is not an exhaustive list of all we have done to make Shiflett Family Dental a safe environment, we hope it helps give you a glimpse of our efforts. Thank you so much for your continued confidence in Shiflett Family Dental. We are honored to serve all of your oral health needs, and look forward to getting back to a “new normal.” If you have any questions or concerns, Dr. Shiflett will be more than happy to discuss them with you. Feel free to give us a call at (614)262-1807 and we will get you the answers you need.
